Future Shock

Baycon starts tomorrow, which I’m very excited about. I can’t wait to get into all those panels and workshops. This year, I have the added treat of being a vendor. I’ve hooked up with a south bay writing group, who have all very kindly agreed to let me hop on board. We’ll have a table in the dealer room, which we’ll take turns manning, while we sell our books. I have no idea how this will go. I’m bringing 15 copies of each of my three books, all signed and ready to be read. I’m probably really overreaching, but out of 3000 attendees, I should sell something.

Today, my oldest grandson graduates from high school. We’re driving up to Sacramento for that. In less than two months, he goes to Marine boot camp. Not my first choice for him, but it is his first choice, and that’s what counts. I sincerely hope he prospers. And lives long, of course.

Isn’t he handsome?

Where did the years go?

  1. Very handsome lad. If you think he looks good now, wait until you see him in uniform. Military service can be a good choice for the transition from childhood to adulthood. Wishing him the best.

  2. Many thanks in advance to service your grandson will be giving 🙂

And I’m sure you’ll do well at the Baycon!

And from what I can tell, the years sort of flyby on the wings of a dragon.

  3. I read your first book Shipbuilder and would like to gt a signed copy of Bridge Builder. Good luck at the show. As a person whose done many shows over the years myself they can always be up and down. In this tight economy you might do very well because people are spending less money but do like to have an adventure and if Bridge Builder is as good as Shipbuilder it should be an adventure worth taking.

Lydia did a great job on raising Fransisco and even though I don’t know him, his choice is very honorable. I too want to thank him in advance for his decision to join.
