In Which the Author Asks for Fan Assistance

I’ve started a promotion campaign with a new organization called Libboo. Go check them out – there aren’t a lot of books on their list yet, but they’re working on it.

Shipbuilder is up and running over there. By next week, Bridgebuilders and Moon Over Donamorgh will be up, too. If you click on the link, you’ll get a chance to join and start buzzing about the book. I could really use some word-of-mouth spreading around, and this is a fun way to do it, if only because you can win free books for buzzing.

I’m not a pushy marketer. I hate pyramid schemes and salespeople who act like their product is the best thing ever, and I’m an idiot if I don’t jump all over it. So I don’t spend a lot of time pushing my books. I’m not comfortable, either, with asking you to join Libboo in order to spam your social networks and friends with book suggestions. If it looks like something you’d like to try, go for it. If it’s not your thing… eh.

But I will ask you (politely, I hope), to spread the word about my books, if you liked them. As an independent author, I don’t have access to bookstores or media. Sure, I could buy an ad in several magazines or newspapers, but that takes serious money. Nope, I totally depend on word of mouth.

I know some of you have already done this, so please don’t think I’m asking you to to bug your friends again. You’re off the hook, ‘k?

And I’m grateful to all of you for supporting me. Don’t forget about my Faithful Readers contest, either. If you’ve already purchased one or more of my books, you can enter to win another book by just leaving me a comment or sending a message. Spread the word about that, too!
