Reading on Planes and Ships

As the departure date for my vacation approaches, the To-Do list remains long, but I’m chipping away at it. I have one week to be ready. I will meet that deadline one way or another.

A subset of that list is the To-Read list. I just finished (about five minutes ago) Toni Dwiggins’ Volcano Watch. I love this forensic geology series. I liked this second book just as much as the first one, Badwater. Except for the fact that Volcano Watch leaves me with an aching heart. I get that writers are supposed to be mean to their characters, but wow. Have some mercy for the reader.

So at the moment, I’m feeling fragile, and with a new appreciation for the people in my life. It’s a good idea to treat them kindly because we may not always have them.

But. The To-Read list. It’s a long one over at Goodreads, but in preparation for my trip, I needed to check my Kindle and make sure I had enough books downloaded to last the trip.

Um, yeah. As it turns out, I probably do. Here, in the order they appear on my Kindle TOC, is what I have to keep me occupied in my quiet moments:

Under the Cover of Wicca by Darke Conteur
Matchbox Girls by Chrysoula Tzavelas
Phoenix Child by Alica McKenna-Johnson
Death Drops by Chrystle Fiedler
The Frog Prince by Elle Lothlorien
Independence Day, Book One by Bex Aaron
Pagan Writers Presents Yule (Anthology)
Secrets (Guardian Trilogy) by Liz Schulte
The Neocon Conspiracy by Maud Muller
Out of Here by Patty Jansen

Boy, I don’t miss the days when I would have had to carry all those individual books around. I just better not forget to pack the Kindle.

I’m going to make sure it’s on my packing list.

  1. I just found your post–I’m so glad you liked the second forensic geology book. (my heart ached too when I wrote those scenes)

Hope you have a grand vacation, with plenty of Kindle time 😉
